Questions and answers
What is CO₂e (greenhouse emissions)?
CO₂e stands for carbon dioxide equivalent, and it is how Klimetra measures greenhouse emissions. Food production releases several greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, and each warms the climate to a different degree. CO₂e converts them all into one figure: the amount of carbon dioxide that would have the same warming effect over 100 years. This makes ingredients and dishes easy to compare. Klimetra shows estimated greenhouse emissions as kg CO₂e per 100 g and per serving.
How is estimated CO₂e calculated?
Klimetra multiplies the quantity of each ingredient by an emission factor (kg CO₂e per kg) and adds them up for the whole recipe. The factors come primarily from CONCITO’s Den Store Klimadatabase (the Big Climate Database), supplemented by AGRIBALYSE where Danish data is missing. The result is an estimate, shown per 100 g and per serving.
Where does the nutrition data come from?
Mainly from DTU’s FRIDA food database, supplemented by USDA FoodData Central. Values are calculated averages, not laboratory measurements.
Will the same recipe always give the same result?
Yes. Every calculation uses fixed formulas and fixed data, and no AI is involved when a recipe is calculated. A recipe’s values only change if you edit it, or when Klimetra’s data is updated because a data source has published a new version.
Can I rely on the allergen information?
Klimetra suggests which of the 14 EU allergens a recipe contains, based on its ingredients, and shows which ingredient each one comes from. You review the suggestions and can change any of them; your final choice is what appears on your materials. Our ingredient data takes a precautionary approach: where information is uncertain, we generally flag an allergen rather than leave it out. Even so, Klimetra cannot guarantee that every allergen is identified, and it cannot account for the specific products you use or for cross-contact in your kitchen. Always check product labels and verify the information before you display it.
What counts as a location?
A location is a place where you display Klimetra materials, such as a restaurant or a canteen. Each plan includes a licence for a set number of locations.
Can my colleagues use Klimetra too?
Yes. Invite colleagues by email, and you all work on the same recipes, meal plans, and locations. Every plan includes this, with no limit on the number of colleagues. The account owner manages billing and the team.
How does the free trial work?
Every plan starts with 14 days free. A payment card is required. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged; otherwise the subscription continues at the plan’s monthly price.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, at any time. If you cancel after the trial, your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Which languages are supported?
Klimetra and all downloads are available in Danish and English.
What if an ingredient is missing?
Request it from inside the app and we will look into adding it to the database.
